April School Vacation Week
Join us for April school vacation week at Zoo New England! Each day is its own unique session, so you can join us for one day, or all three.
Each day will focus on a different theme, and kids will get the opportunity to see animals up-close while learning all about them. These sessions are offered to participants ages 6-9. Taught by Zoo educators, classes include hands-on activities, discussion, animal encounters and behind-the-scenes experiences. Each program includes progressive program topics focused on teaching students about animals and their interactions within their ecosystems.
Class Size and Safety Information:
Classes will be limited to 20 participants. These classes will be held indoors, with certain activities and zoo walks that will be held outdoors. Please note, parent/guardian and unregistered friend/sibling attendance is not permitted.
"Zoo Done It?" Program Details:It’s time to solve a mystery! Our theme for April Vacation Week is “Zoo Done It?”. These programs will challenge participants to investigate three different themed days of questions and intrigue to unmask our mystery animal culprits. Participants will collect clues through games, hands-on activities, crafts, and animal encounters. Tuesday (4/22): Conservation Mysteries How do scientists solve mysteries in the field? Today’s program will focus on the field work methods Zoo New England conservation scientists use to study and protect our local ecosystem. Wednesday (4/23): Backyard Burglars Rabbits, Raccoons, and Rat Snakes, Oh My! New England is full of crafty native animals who are smart, adaptable and ... suspects. Today we are going to use our knowledge of the animals living in our own backyard to solve a mystery. Thursday (4/24): Big Game Sometimes the largest animals leave the smallest clues. Today we will ask these questions: What can we learn from what these animals leave behind? How can we protect our largest neighbors from poachers and habitat loss? What is Zoo New England doing around the world to make a difference? Grab your binoculars and let’s go on a Zoofari! |

Storm Inclement Weather Cancellation Policy:
We take safety seriously – for participants, Zoo visitors, staff and for our animals. In the event of an incoming storm, Zoo staff may decide to cancel a vacation day/private program. In addition to our education team, the Zoo has a team who keeps a close eye on the impending storm. The decision may be made to open the Zoo as usual, have a delayed opening, or close for the day depending on the severity of the storm and the subsequent clean up. We reserve the right to cancel a program by 8:00am on the day of the program. If we decide we must cancel a program day due to situations beyond our control, we will issue a credit for your program, to be used towards another one of Zoo New England’s education programs.
