Zoo New England (formally known as Commonwealth Zoological Corporation), along with Franklin Park Zoo in Boston and Stone Zoo in Stoneham, MA, is committed to inspiring everyone to protect the natural world through fun and engaging experiences that integrate wildlife and conservation programs, research, and education. This commitment extends to our digital experiences and providing an equitable, engaging experience for people of all abilities.

Summary of Accessibility Features
We are making every attempt to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA criteria at a minimum across our family of websites. Our websites:
- use standards-compliant HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to power the site – if you use a browser that honors these standards, you should be able to navigate this site.
- have navigational aids such as semantic elements and skip navigation links on all pages to help users move around more quickly.
- have structural markup to aid in page comprehension
- are made so users can zoom pages up to 300% and maintain functionality
- have headings that follow a logical order
- have focus styles on images, links, forms, and other focusable elements to aid in keyboard navigation
- meet or exceed contrast requirements
- have had style sheet changes made to increase legibility
- have been tested manually and using Accessibility Insights for Web services
- have had key enhancements made to the content management system for assistance with ongoing accessibility requirements
- have had alternative text added to many contextual images and non-text elements, and are working to add alternative text to all elements where needed.
Known Issues
After reviewing the site for accessibility, we have found that the social media posts on our home pages that were created using third-party plug-ins may prevent barriers to some users. We will work to address this issue in the future.
