Included with general Zoo admission. No additional purchase or reservation is required for Zoo members. Note: June 15 Workshop requires additional tickets

The 10 specimens will be artfully displayed on our Bird’s World patio where guests can examine the elegant forms and learn more about this ancient art.

Bonsai is the centuries-old Japanese art form of growing and shaping miniature trees in small decorative displays. The care and sculpting of an individual tree can take years or decades to create a naturalistic scene in miniature, where age, imperfections, and unusual forms are valued.

Saturday, June 15: Bonsai Workshop

For the bonsai-curious, New England Bonsai Gardens is giving a special workshop on Saturday, June 15, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Tropical Forest classroom. The Bonsai Basics class is an all-inclusive, hands-on workshop where guests can discover the art form, learn how to care for these special plants and go home with a bonsai tree of their own. Workshop tickets can be purchased directly from New England Bonsai Gardens. Please note: Zoo admission must be purchased separately.
