Bonsai is the centuries-old Japanese art form of growing and shaping miniature trees in small decorative displays. The care and sculpting of an individual tree can take years or decades to create a naturalistic scene in miniature, where age, imperfections, and unusual forms are valued.
Saturday, June 15: Bonsai Workshop
For the bonsai-curious, New England Bonsai Gardens is giving a special workshop on Saturday, June 15, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Tropical Forest classroom. The Bonsai Basics class is an all-inclusive, hands-on workshop where guests can discover the art form, learn how to care for these special plants and go home with a bonsai tree of their own. Workshop tickets can be purchased directly from New England Bonsai Gardens. Please note: Zoo admission must be purchased separately.
