Zoo New England (formally known as Commonwealth Zoological Corporation), along with Franklin Park Zoo in Boston and Stone Zoo in Stoneham, MA, is committed to inspiring everyone to protect the natural world through fun and engaging experiences that integrate wildlife and conservation programs, research, and education. This commitment extends to our digital experiences and providing an equitable, engaging experience for people of all abilities.

Summary of Accessibility Features

We are making every attempt to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA criteria at a minimum across our family of websites. Our family of sites:

  • use standards-compliant code to power the site – if you use a browser that honors these standards, you should be able to navigate this site
  • use skip navigation links and focus states on all navigational elements to help keyboard-only users move around more quickly
  • are built so users can zoom pages up to 300% and maintain functionality
  • use headings that follow a logical order to aid in understanding
  • use colors that meet or exceed contrast requirements 
  • have updated text styles to increase legibility 
  • have been tested manually and programmatically to identify issues
  • use up-to-date versions of plugins and the content management system for assistance with ongoing accessibility requirements
  • have alternative text added to most images and are working to ensure all elements that need alternative text have it
