Sunday, August 16: 
• Franklin Park Zoo will be open for daytime guests. Due to events taking place outside the Zoo, traffic and parking restrictions will be in effect throughout Franklin Park. Circuit Drive will be closed, and barriers may be in place on some roadways. If you encounter a barrier, please identify yourself as a Zoo visitor. Parking will be available in the Zoo’s parking lots, though there may be periods when roads or parking areas are temporarily inaccessible. We strongly encourage the use of public transportation or rideshare when possible. 
• Franklin Park Zoo’s Boston Lights evening event will be closed on Sunday, August 16.

Kalahari Kingdom

Even before you reach Kalahari Kingdom, you may hear our African lion's rumbling roars echoing far beyond his habitat, a call almost impossible to resist. Climb into a “crashed” land rover and come nose-to-nose with a lion sniffing around the hood of your car; exchange glances with this magnificent beast through a glass at a ranger station, or peek at him from across a moat as he soaks up the sun.

Get to know Franklin Park Zoo’s kori bustard M’guu on your next visit. M’guu was received as an egg from the Smithsonian National Zoo and was hatched and reared at Zoo New England in 2003.

Then make your way to our red river hog habitat. These shapely swine will capture your hearts with their striking features and curious personalities.
