Sunday, August 16:
• Franklin Park Zoo will be open for daytime guests. Due to events taking place outside the Zoo, traffic and parking restrictions will be in effect throughout Franklin Park. Circuit Drive will be closed, and barriers may be in place on some roadways. If you encounter a barrier, please identify yourself as a Zoo visitor. Parking will be available in the Zoo’s parking lots, though there may be periods when roads or parking areas are temporarily inaccessible. We strongly encourage the use of public transportation or rideshare when possible.
• Franklin Park Zoo’s Boston Lights evening event will be closed on Sunday, August 16.
We appreciate your patience and understanding!

Recycle Your Holiday Lights for Lions!

Our recycling drive has concluded for the season. Please sign up for email notifications below to receive information on next season's drive.

Do you have old holiday lights taking up space in your closets? We're collecting holiday lights and extension cords for our “Lights for Lions” recycling drive! Drop off used or non-functioning strings of lights and extension cords at our recycling bins at both Zoos. Recycling proceeds support our conservation partner, Lion Landscapes, in their efforts to protect lions and their habitats.

Want to host your own lights collection drive? Download our printable box graphics and get started!

About Lion Landscapes

Zoo New England supports Lion Landscapes in their community-led conservation work aimed at protecting large wild carnivores threatened by human-dominated landscape. This work in Tanzania is of high-importance, as this area is considered one of the last lion strongholds. Subscribe to Lion Landscapes' newsletter to keep up to date on their work and research.

Thank you to our recycling partner, Spiegel South Shore Scrap Metal!
