Save wildlife & wild places with a special Zoo New England license plate!

Registration is easy! Simply visit the myRMV - Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles, scroll down to "Plates," and select "Order a Special/Vanity Plate."

Please note that you must have a car registered in MA to apply, and your registration must be active and in good standing.

The RMV requires a $40 special plate fee and up to a $60 registration fee (depending on the length of current registration). $28 of the special plate fee is tax deductible and donated to Zoo New England, and when you renew your plate after two years the full $40 is donated.

We have license plates 11 – 99 available for a one-time, tax-deductible $5,000 donation. Please note that the donation does not include the RMV fees.

Once your number is chosen, we will share your information with the RMV to process your license plate. The RMV will be in touch via email to complete the registration process and collect fees. The low-number license plates cannot be obtained through the RMV online or in person.

•    Once your registration application is complete, it typically takes the RMV 7-10 days to mail your new plate. 

•    Do not cancel your old plates even after swapping in the new ones. Both plates will be linked to your vehicle until the RMV automatically cancels the old one. If you cancel your old plate, you will be cancelling your new ones as well!

•    Keep a copy of both the old and new registration in the car as the existing safety/emissions sticker/test is associated with a particular license plate ID. By keeping both records, you will not need to get your car reinspected before it is due.

•    Remember to update any vendors/systems that have your license plate (EZ-Pass, city parking stickers, etc.)
