Red Panda Conservation Complex
Big changes are coming to Franklin Park Zoo’s red panda habitat! We invite you to join us as we create a new and improved space and contribute significantly to global conservation efforts.
With your generous support, we will construct a second enriching exhibit space for our red pandas to enjoy, complete with naturalistic climbing structures and lush vegetation. To do even more for red pandas, we will also enhance our behind-the-scenes space to better accommodate nesting areas for red panda cubs, who remain close to their mothers for the first 90 days of their lives. Together with our existing red panda exhibit, the new complex will serve as an educational hub, where visitors of all ages can learn about red pandas and the importance of protecting their native habitats.
Red pandas, with their endearing charm and unique personalities, have captured the hearts of our visitors for years. However, red pandas face numerous threats in the wild, including significant habitat loss and poaching. Zoo New England is an active participant in the red panda Species Survival Plan (SSP), a cooperative, inter-zoo program coordinated nationally through the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) designed to ensure the health and survival of endangered species.
