Appearance:

  • Blue back and tail, green head, blue-violet wings, yellow breast and belly.
  • Length: 12 to 15 inches long; wingspan of 4.6 to 5.6 inches

Diet: Primarily insects like termites. Some crabs, snails, spiders and small vertebrates.

Range: Arid areas of northeast Africa. Though native to Africa, starlings have been introduced to North America and other areas to control insect populations.
